Registry fun

Ok, I take it back - it looks like we are going to be filling up that baby registry.  There are just so many things that
     a) the baby will actually need
     b) we want the baby to have
     c) Chris thinks is so cute and can't say no to

We have a registry at Babies 'R' Us and at Amazon and each are a combination of items that have been recommended by new parents, things that the baby books/magazines tell us we should have and baby stuff that is just too cute to pass up.  You should have seen Chris the other day going through and discovering all of the baby Ohio State stuff.  You would have thought he was in a nursery with all of the 'oohs' and 'aahs' that he was making!

We actually have a method to our madness and are doing a lot of research before something is added to the registry.  Ratings, safety, recommendations and practicality each have a place in each item we have selected.  A lot of the stuff is gender neutral and then once the baby is born, we can add some pinks or blues to the mix.  Take a look at the links above and let us know what you think!

6 months!

Well, now can you see it?  Our 12.5 inch, 1.25 pound blueberry is now the length of an ear of corn!  The kicking continues and I am showing enough in some outfits that people aren't afraid to ask when the baby is due.  Just a few people though - others have apparently learned their lesson the hard way and are not going to ask unless I say something.

The hunt for the perfect baby gear continues and we have made our first set of selections.  Obviously, we don't need everything all at once but you need a car seat to leave the hospital and if you need a car seat, then you need to figure out what stroller you want as the knee bone's connected to the leg bone, you need to pick a bunch of things together.  Then, once you have the registry gun in your hand, you start picking out all of the other fun things that you think you will need.  Don't worry - we aren't going crazy!

My 1st Mother's Day

I had the opportunity yesterday to celebrate my first Mother's Day as a pre-mother!  It was really nice to be able to enjoy brunch and free time with Chris' whole family and everyone was helping to celebrate my upcoming motherhood.

I got flowers and candy to enjoy now, books to read in my new-found free time, a gift to select on my own in the future and a "Coming Soon" picture frame with an ultrasound picture of Blueberry that now sits on my nightstand.

The other exciting gift that we got to celebrate was some baby kicks!  I have been feeling them inside but the baby was feeling festive and let both Chris and I feel movement a few times throughout the day.  We had the biggest kick yet and I think now that the baby knows what its doing, we will feel more and more kicks!

Learning our fruits and vegetables

This week, my baby app says that the baby is the size of a large mango.  Last week, however, the baby was the size of a spaghetti squash.  I don't know about you but I have never seen a mango that was larger than a spaghetti squash!

At 23 weeks, we are at 11.5 inches and 1.1 pounds!  I am feeling great and have even felt the baby move from the outside a few times.  I am trying to teach Blueberry to wiggle on command so that Chris can feel it too but we aren't quite at that stage yet.  I am guessing that within the next week, Chris will finally be able to feel the movement that I have been feeling from the inside.

We have started looking into classes and we are going to be signing up for a New Parents 101 class, a baby CPR class and a Bowser & Baby class that teaches you how to introduce your dogs to your baby so they live happily ever after.  Our summer is filling up with classes and appointments and it is all getting more and more real.
